2009 NASPA/MERCK STATE PHARMACY ASSOCIATION GRANTS
Michigan: Media Disaster Plan: A Toolkit for Crisis Communications in Pharmacy Associations
This project will provide state pharmacy associations with a blueprint for how to effectively communicate and defend their organizations and the practice of pharmacy when an attack on the profession occurs, or other serious situations in which the media is or could be involved. It also will provide a critical, proactive approach to promoting positive pharmacy messages in order to create goodwill among target audiences and to lessen the impact of any future attacks.

South Carolina: Pharmacy Image Enhancement Program
View library of stock photography
The purpose of this project is to develop materials for use in pharmacy association marketing. Specifically, this project would produce a library of stock photography as well as a short PSA for TV or web use. The stock photography and PSA will be tools for increasing public awareness about pharmacy and will be consistent with the image goals set forth by the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners in their November 10, 2004 “Future Vision of Pharmacy Practice” Statement.
Permission is granted to state pharmacy associations to utilize these photos for journals, websites, graphics, etc. but cannot be used for resale purposes (ie, you cannot create a poster with just the photo on it and then try to sell it to members as an art print).

- averting accidental ingestion
- avoiding use of unwanted medications by unauthorized persons
Rhode Island: Increasing Awareness and Access to Pneumococcal Vaccine
through Community Pharmacies
The purpose of this project is to promote patient education regarding adult recommendations for the pneumococcal vaccine and enhance pharmacist delivered vaccine administration rates in RI community pharmacy settings. This model could be easily replicated in other states. We hope to disseminate the material by posting a description and sample documents that may be adapted by other states on our website.
